The Teekkarikuoro choir will once again perform a Christmas concert on Thursday, December 12, at 7 PM in the main hall of Tampere University's central campus. Joining them is the newly formed Tampere-based choir, Aukea Ensemble. The choirs will guide the audience into the Christmas spirit with a wonderfully swinging repertoire, accompanied by a band assembled specifically for the concert.
Founded in 1985, Teekkarikuoro is one of the most prominent student choirs in Tampere. Most of the singers are students of technology, but the 50 members of the choir also include Masters of Science and people from other academic fields. The choir based at Tampere University Hervanta Campus aspires to have a lively tone and a versatile repertoire but never forgets to have fun. Teekkarikuoro is conducted by Johanna Lantto, music pedagogue and MSE in environmental engineering.
Aukea Ensemble is a Tampere-based vocal group that plays with the possibilities of a cappella in their music. Aukea was founded in autumn 2023, because a group of experienced amateur singers wanted to do something laid-back, courageous and impactful.
The concert ticket costs 15 euros, and for discount groups (students, retirees, unemployed persons, conscripts), the price is 10 euros. Children aged 12 and under can attend the concert for free. The ticket price includes a program booklet. Tickets are available in advance from Tiketti, choir members, and TREY service desks on both university campuses. The concert includes an intermission and has a total duration of approximately two hours.
